| Self-directed support |
|
The way that adult social care works is changing, “self-directed support” is being introduced from August 2010 onwards with the aim of giving people greater control and flexibility over how their community care needs are met. If you are interested in finding out more about what the changes may mean, more information is available at www.in-control.org.uk and / or www.together-uk.org (who focus on mental wellbeing). As the changes are introduced, our advisers will have access to up-to-date information and be able to give assistance with any problems encountered. We will be keen to hear of your experiences so that we can provide evidence on what is and isn’t working well in the transitional period and help the Council make a success of this important development in adult social care. You can also find information on ‘What is self-directed support?’ on Sheffield City Council's website or find out more about Personalisation, the government's word for the new way of delivering public services.
