Professional referrals

mccsignage2010The bureau provides a 'specialist' CAB advice service for people using mental health services in Sheffield and priority is given to inpatients on the psychiatric wards.

We will try to see people using mental health services in Sheffield or who have mental health difficulties if they are unable to use their local advice service because of their mental health issues.

If you think your client would be able to contact their local advice service visit Advice Sheffield or see A Guide to Advice Services in Sheffield leaflet to find out the contact details for that service).

If you have a client who you think may fit our target group that would be unable to access their local advice service, then, after your client has confirmed that they want you to, please ring us on 0114 271 8025 to leave a message. We will return your call to discuss your referral.

In addition, we need to know if the client is aware of the referral, if we can contact them directly, and if there are any risk issues we should be aware of.

When you call us, we will usually try to get back to you within two working days for further details. If we are not able to help the client, we will try to tell you at this point, and signpost as appropriate.

We usually visit inpatients on the wards at the Longley Centre and have a drop in advice service for inpatients on the wards at the Michael Carlisle Centre - see Accessing our service for further details.

If appropriate, we are also sometimes able to do home visits.

In order to preserve confidentiality, we do not take referrals over the internet.
